Tigers face Seton Hall on the road
The Mizzou women’s basketball will continue the season after receiving a bid to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament. The Tigers are the four seed in BYU’s region and will travel to face Seton Hall in the first round. Mizzou had a strong first season under Coach Kellie Harper, finishing the year 16-16 with four SEC wins.
Against conference opponents the Tigers secured wins against teams like Mississippi State and Arkansas on the road. The résumé also included key non-conference wins versus power-conference opponents including California and Northwestern. The Tigers were one of two SEC teams selected to the tournament alongside Texas A&M.
While Florida and Mississippi State both finished ahead of Mizzou in the conference, they did not receive invitations (or indicated they would not play in the event). The last postseason appearance for Mizzou came in 2023 when they reached the second round of the WNIT. This is the Tigers’ first ever appearance in the WBIT, as the tournament started in 2024.
The tournament was produced as an alternative to the WNIT sponsored by the NCAA to cut down on costs for the teams with things like travel. The semifinals and final of the WBIT will be played in Wichita, Kansas, with the final taking place on April Fool’s Day. Got some more basketball to play🐯 #MIZ x #OurZou pic.
