Horseheads' Bowler Wins Big Title in NY State Championships

Cayden Bowman of Horseheads won the boys Division 1 individual title, and Windsor's girls took second in Division 2 at NYSPHSAA championships.

Horseheads sophomore Cayden Bowman earned the boys individual state title during individual competition at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association bowling championships at AMF Syracuse Lanes. Bowman posted a a six-game score of 1438 on Saturday, March 14. His scores were 234, 248, 255, 224, 243, and 234 for a 239.

67 average. North Babylon's Nick Vuono was runner-up with a score of 1,366. Landon Butenko of Chenango Forks was runner-up in Division 2 with a score of 1,366.

Weedsport's Ethan Reitema was champion with a 1,381 pinfall total. Waverly's Derek Bowman had a 289 game among his six-game score of 1302 to finish fifth in Division 2, one spot ahead of Owego Free Academy's Connor Kotski (1299). In Division 2 team competition Friday, the Windsor girls placed second and the Sidney/Unatego boys placed fifth.

In Sunday's Division 1 team competition, the Corning boys and Elmira girls each placed seventh.
