New Headline: American Swimmer Secures Silver Medal at World Championships

Scranton Prep athletes put a bow on the swimming season by collecting medals on the final day of competition at the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Eva Kaszuba had a busy Saturday and capped it off with a fifth-place medal in the 100-yard breaststroke in the Class 2A meet at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium. The Scranton Prep junior swam in the preliminary races and had a time of 1:05.

34. She then traveled to Pottsville’s Martz Hall to play and help lead Scranton Prep to a win over Susquehanna Twp. in the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals.

She returned to Bucknell University and placed fifth with a time of 1 minute, 4. 78 seconds. Schuylkill Valley junior Mabel Walborn won the gold in 1:03.

10. Scranton Prep teammate Ella Schofield finished eighth in 1:06. 13 to win a medal.

North Pocono freshman Alexandra Johnson finished 19th (1:08. 18). With Kaszuba and Schofield leading the way, Scranton Prep finished fifth in the team standings with 114 points.
