TPC Sawgrass was extremely challenging on Sunday with the rough thicker than it has ever been and the greens becoming harder and faster as the day went on. Cam Young mastered the golf course in the end and posted a round of four-under par 68 on day four of The Players Championship and the major champion Fitzpatrick matched that score. Both the American and the Englishman are quiet, reserved, yet uncompromising characters.

Young had the vast majority of fans at TPC Sawgrass fully behind him, unsurprisingly so. Young said he still had a chance to win The Players immediately after his third round, despite being four shots adrift of Aberg at the time. And the 28-year-old American has now been proven right.

Matt Fitzpatrick on what Cam Young’s behavior was like at The Players Young can come off as slightly aloof to those who don’t really know him. He doesn’t usually say anything of any substance when speaking to the media and as a result, he has a reputation for being somewhat detached and impersonal. However, is that reputation unfair?
