Bruce Pearl Leads Auburn to Elite Eight Excellence!
The former Auburn coach's disappointment was on display in real time.
When Bruce Pearl was included as part of this year's NCAA tournament Selection Show on CBS, there was the expectation of seeing the former Auburn coach watch his old team get left out of March Madness in real time. And, well, that's exactly what happened. With the Tigers (coached by Bruce's son, Steven Pearl) spending the past couple weeks on the bubble, Bruce had been among the more outspoken voices vying for Auburn's inclusion in March Madness.
But for as much as Bruce tried to make the case for Auburn, a 3-9 end to the season had the Tigers on the outside when it was all said and done. Mind you, Auburn wasn't even the first team out from the SEC ā Oklahoma was actually the committee's first team to be left out of the field. But all that disappointment for Pearl led to him continuing to lobby for Auburn ...
even after it was too late. Bruce Pearl: "Auburn beat 3 champions this year. They beat Florida, they beat St.
John's, and they beat Arkansas. They played the toughest schedule in the country, don't know if they were rewarded for it. " pic.
