New Headline: Trukovich Surpasses Limit, Claims First Place in Elite Lifting Competition
Missing out on the podium as a sophomore was all the fuel Trukovich needed this year.
COLUMBUS - Galion's Carter Trukovich learned a hard lesson as a sophomore. He was complacent after a fifth place finish freshman year and got a little too comfortable, then ended up not reaching the podium. But after a year of that eating at him and a mindset shift, he got to the Division II 126-pounch championship match before dropping a 7-1 decision Licking Valley's Joe Curry.
Trukovich becomes the third consecutive runner-up following back-to-back finishes from Gradey Harding, and fourth all-time joining Deaken McCoy (2015). zholden@gannett. com | 419-617-6018 | Twitter/X: @Zachary_Holden This article originally appeared on Mansfield News Journal: Galion's Carter Trukovich 126-pound wrestling state runner-up
