At the top of the ninth inning, with two out and down on run, Tennessee pinch hitter Stone Lawless had a chance to save the game with a much-needed lead. And he took it: On the second pitch, Lawless connected with the ball, sending it flying into deep right field, and towards the fence for a two-run go-ahead home run.
One problem: It wasn’t a home run. As the ball arced towards the wall, Georgia outfielder Cole Johnson was there to nab it. The fly out was the third and final out for the Volunteers, with the Bulldogs ending the game right then and there.
