### Woods Flips the Script for a Fifth Masters Crown in '23!

Yahoo Sports

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Rory McIlroy has a decision to make. The five-time major champion has to decide whether he is going to play again before the Masters, where he is also the defending champion.

His title defense came to an end Sunday, with McIlroy shooting 1 under to finish at even par for the week at the Players Championship . "I'll see. I haven't really made a decision either way," McIlroy said after his round.

"I'll see how my body feels. We'll see how I feel in practice and at home and if I get itchy feet at home maybe add an event at some point. " Last year, McIlroy played in the Texas Children's Houston Open leading into his Grand Slam clinching victory at Augusta National, tying for fifth at Memorial Park.

Neither he nor Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1, have committed to the event this time around. The deadline is Friday.

"I feel like it was important to make the weekend here and play an extra couple of days," McIlroy said. "But yeah, really just see how the next week goes, see how once I get back to actually a full practice schedule and in the gym and stuff like that, see how my body reacts to that, and then I'll see. " McIlroy was a game-time decision coming into the Players Championship due to a back injury he suffered last weekend at Bay Hill, one that forced him to withdraw before his third-round tee time.
