A year ago, the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. Last season, they didn’t have nearly as much luck, getting kicked out in the Wild Card round instead. Despite their lack of success (at least compared to 2024), players are still itching for a chance to suit up in an Eagles uniform in 2026.
Even those who have already done so before. Specifically, former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay recently admitted that the only team he wants to play for is the one in Philadelphia. “ No team can call me but the Eagles ,” Slay said.
He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason, landing a one-year, $10 million contract. Yet, he clearly wasn’t having much fun. Slay started nine of his 10 appearances, recording 36 tackles and three pass deflections.
Then, the Steelers and Slay mutually agreed to part ways, so they granted his release. A day later, he was claimed by the Bills off waivers, but he never reported to the team, thus his season was over. Now 35 years old, Slay is a free agent again, but there hasn’t been any reported interest in his services.
