If he doesn't do what he can, the Boston Red Sox could be a team that makes sense to trade with. Mike Axisa of CBS Sports named Wilyer Abreu as one of the players who could eventually become available in a trade, and linked him to the Phillies. Several players are in a crowded Boston outfield picture, including top prospect Roman Anthony, who is viewed as a long-term cornerstone of the organization.
Abreu should be viewed as such, too, but he doesn't seem to be. “At some point, the Red Sox will move one of their lefty hitting outfielders, right? ” Axisa wrote.
“Roman Anthony isn't going anywhere and Masataka Yoshida's contract will be difficult to move, leaving Wilyer Abreu and Jarren Duran as the obvious trade candidates,” Axisa wrote. “Both Abreu and Jarren Duran bring value because of their abilities, something that would make them appealing targets for teams looking to upgrade their outfield. They also have team control.
