More than 1,500 runners take part in the Weymouth half marathon and "half-half" races.

More than 1,500 runners descended on a seaside town for a half marathon and "half-half" race. Now in its 11th year, the sold-out Weymouth Half saw participants run and walk along the seafront, Rodwell Trail and past the marina. The half-half, of about seven miles (11km), took place alongside the main 13.

1-mile race. Some road closures were in place, including Custom House Quay between 08:00 and 13:00 GMT on Sunday. Race director Alan Rose, of Just Racing UK, said: "The event sold out months ago, which shows how popular it has become with runners from across the country.

"What really makes the event special is the level of community involvement. "Local clubs, groups, charities and volunteers all play a part in helping deliver the race and creating a great atmosphere for the runners. "
