Michigan State basketball has slipped in the latest bracketology update from ESPN's Joe Lunardi. In the latest update on the morning of Selection Sunday, Lunardi has moved Big Ten rival Purdue ahead of the Spartans for the final No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Spartans are now listed as his top No. 3 seed and positioned to play in the East Region. Per Lunardi's post, he moved Purdue ahead of the Spartans due to their run during the Big Ten Tournament.

The Boilermakers have beaten Northwestern, Nebraska and UCLA to reach the Big Ten Tournament championship game against Michigan on Sunday, while the Spartans were bounced on in their lone game against UCLA on Friday. Michigan State has been considered a near lock for a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but back-to-back losses to end the season has opened the door for the Boilermakers.

At the time of this post, Michigan State still has an edge over Purdue in the Bracket Matrix for the final No. 2 seed, but it's looking like it'll be a toss-up on which way the selection committee goes. The official bracket reveal for the 2026 NCAA Tournament will take place this evening at 6 p.

m. ET. That will be televised on CBS.
