Contested by the champions of those federations considered the most dominant, the trophy is currently held by Argentina, who won the competition in 2022 by defeating Italy , foreshadowing their eventual victory later that year in the FIFA World Cup . " The announcement came following an Iranian missile and drone strike on Doha, which was reportedly intercepted by Qatar air defenses, although debris is said to have injured 16 individuals in the city.
