New Headline: "Trey Lance's NFL Rookie Deal Makes Him a Super Bowl Star Signee

Yahoo Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers announced that free agent quarterback Trey Lance will return on a one-year deal. Sources from within have told ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter that the deal is worth up to $6. 7 million.

Trey Lance was a top pick out of North Dakota State in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers . As a top pick, he has never been given a significant opportunity or amount of time to really show what he can do in the NFL.

With the 49ers, an ankle injury would propel Brock Purdy into the QB that he is today in San Francisco. Lance would then bounce around to the Cowboys and the Commanders, but see very limited snaps, if any. Last year with the Chargers, Lance would play the season finale against the Denver Broncos because the team rested its starters for the playoffs.

Lance finished the game against one of the league's top defenses with second-stringers going 20 of 44 with 146 yards passing with one interception. Trey Lance is still only 25 years old and needs to find the right coaching and scheme for him to excel in the NFL.
