Florida State women’s lacrosse lost 15-9 to the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday, March 14, at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex. Despite multiple offensive runs to spark a comeback, the Seminoles fell short in their eighth straight loss. FSU is now 2-8 overall and 0-6 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play in its inaugural season.
While the record reflects a learning curve, signs show the young program is still developing. The freshman's abilities on the roster highlights the team's youth, a factor the coaching staff continues to monitor. “We are definitely young on the offensive end, so I think Summer [Harrell] and Amelia [Brite] have been key pieces of that throughout the season,” associate head coach MacKenzie Plaskey said in the postgame press conference.

This included three points from sophomore attacker Reese Wallich, who finished with four goals and two assists.
The Virginia Tech defense forced six turnovers and kept the Garnet and Gold attack on their heels for most of the first quarter. Florida State began the second quarter with the first of many runs, scoring three unanswered goals to cut the Hokies’ lead to three. During the run, sophomore midfielder Meg Kenny matched her season total in assists in the second quarter alone with two, as she continues to be a crucial member of the Seminoles’ offense.
