After signing the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2026, USC got off to a bit of a slower start in the 2027 cycle. However, it now appears as though the Trojans are starting to ramp things up, and a major development over the weekend further confirmed such.
On Saturday, USC picked up its first five-star commit of the 2027 cycle, landing Honor Fa’alave-Johnson out of San Diego. 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 16 overall player in the cycle and the No.
1 player in the state of California. Fa’alave-Johnson is listed as an athlete—and the top overall athlete in his class, too—which means that he is a versatile player who can play multiple different positions. Per 247Sports , he is primarily expected to play defensive back in college, but could potentially also play some running back.
After adding Fa’alave-Johnson, USC’s 2027 recruiting class has entered the top 15 in the country . Given how well the Trojans have recruited under general manager Chad Bowden, expect them to continue to climb up the rankings in the coming months.
