Jay Parry has put on several major events in Arizona, including the Super Bowl in 2015 and 2023. Her next task is bringing the Women's Final Four.
For every major event in Arizona over the past decade, there’s likely been the same woman behind the scenes: Jay Parry. Parry, the CEO of the Phoenix Final Four Local Organizing Committee, left her post with the Phoenix Mercury and Suns to lead the charge for Super Bowl 49 in 2015. “I decided it was a new and exciting opportunity for me to get into events and creating impact for the state of Arizona,” Parry said.
“That’s really led to the beginning of the 10- to 12-year run of all these major events in Arizona. ” It wasn’t the first leap of faith in Parry’s career. The Southern California native spent the first half of her career as a Bank of America executive vice president for 19 years.
Parry wanted a change from the corporate world and found a golden opportunity to be the Mercury’s president and chief operating officer. Following leadership roles with the Mercury, Suns and WNBA, Parry has overseen nearly every major event, including Super Bowl 57 in 2023 and the men's 2024 NCAA Final Four. Now, she’ll be part of bringing the first women’s Final Four to Phoenix on April 3-5.
How Jay Parry got her first break Parry’s career with Bank of America had transferred her from California to Phoenix and opened her to new opportunities, but she was hitting a point from which she wanted to pivot. Around the time she was hoping to transition to something new, Anne Mariucci and Kathy Munro purchased 25% of the Mercury. Munro, whom Parry had worked with at Bank of America, knew the right person to run the team.
