The Denver Broncos immediately knew Davis Webb was going to be successful as a coach. While Webb was still an active player in 2022, the Buffalo Bills wanted Webb to retire and transition to coaching . Buffalo apparently liked how he helped support quarterback Josh Allen , but Webb opted to play another season.
Word spread about the backup QB, though, and the Broncos interviewed him for their quarterbacks coach position in 2023. “We interviewed him and he blew out the interview," Denver general manager George Paton said at the NFL combine last month. "Sean [Payton] and I and a few other coaches were in there.
