The Washington Commanders made a big splash on defense in free agency, but not everybody is sold on the move.

The Washington Commanders made a big splash early in free agency, adding edge rusher Odafe Oweh . Oweh reportedly inked a four-year deal worth $100 million with $68 million fully guaranteed. The big investment comes after Oweh racked up 7.

5 sacks in 2025 as the Commanders seek to upgrade their pass rush. On paper, it appears to be a perfect fit. Oweh is still young and should provide the Commanders with much-needed speed off the edge.

However, not everybody is sold on the move. Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports recently identified the riskiest free agency deals. Vacchiano included the Oweh deal and offered the following analysis: As Vacchiano mentioned, Oweh's 2025 numbers are slightly deceiving.

The defender had no sacks through five games with the Baltimore Ravens, and then caught fire after being traded to the Los Angeles Chargers. Oweh's career-high in sacks before 2025 was 10 in 2024. If Oweh somehow replicates his production from the last part of 2025, then this deal will look like a steal.
