Both defending Driver Champion Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri sat in their garages as 18 of their 20 competitors took the start of the Chinese Grand Prix. Gabriel Bortoleto of Audi and Alex Albon of Williams also failed to start the race.
McLaren announced that there were seperate issues with both cars that prevented them from starting, with Piastri's car removed from the grid prior to the formation lap and Norris not getting out of the garage. "Unfortunately, we identified separate issues on both cars, which prevented them from starting the Chinese GP, with Oscar's being removed from the grid shortly before the formation lap, McLaren shared on X. "We will now work to identify each issue.
" This marks the second DNS for Piastri in two grands prix and the first for Norris. You Might Also Like If You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of These These Are the Most Popular Cars by State
