According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan , the Giants signed a 28-year-old former Chicago Bears 1,000-yard receiver. “Free agent wide receiver Darnell Mooney is signing with the New York Giants on a one-year deal worth up to $10 million,” Raanan wrote. “Mooney, 28, joins the wide receiver room alongside Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton.

His presence could prove valuable with Nabers recovering this off-season from a torn ACL and full meniscus repair. ” Shortly after Raanan’s report, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles held interest in Mooney before he inked a deal with New York. “Giants OC Matt Nagy was a factor,” Fowler stated on X/Twitter.

“Mooney maintained a good relationship with Nagy from their Chicago days. Eagles also were involved. ” Although Mooney has cooled off a bit since his noteworthy 2021 campaign with the Bears (1,055 receiving yards and four touchdowns), the 5-foot-11 speedster should be expected to be a reliable weapon for Jaxson Dart.
