Boozer's Dominance Ends as Team Seizes Final Victory

By Nick BrombergYahoo Sports

Duke's defense held Virginia at bay until late, but Boozer's clutch free throws sealed the victory. Onyenso’s performance was overshadowed by Boozer's, while Evans put Virginia over the finish line. Duke faces a tough NCAA tournament with just one loss this season, while Virginia should be a top-four seed in the East region.

Duke needed its defense to close out Virginia in a thrilling ACC tournament title game. The Blue Devils eked out a 74-70 win over the Cavaliers, despite trailing by two with six seconds left. Cameron Boozer led the charge with 13 points and 8 assists as he extended the lead on consecutive free throws.

Isaiah Evans' late-game heroics cost Virginia its best chance at victory, leading to more intense fan engagement. The Cavaliers played without Ugonna Onyenso's usual dominance in the second half but still managed a season-high 21 blocks in the ACC tournament title game. Despite the win, Duke faces an uphill battle in the NCAA tournament as it plays in the East region and is one of the favorites to make the Sweet 16.
