A two-time UFC headliner was victorious Saturday but called it a career anyway.

Eryk Anders is calling it a career. Though he was victorious Saturday at UFC Fight Night 269, Anders (18-9 MMA, 10-9 UFC) took off the gloves and announced his retirement after the reading of the official unanimous decision in his favor. Anders defeated fellow seasoned veteran Brad Tavares with scorecards of 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28.

The three-round middleweight bout took place on the prelims at Meta APEX. "That's it for me, man," Anders said during his in-cage interview. "I've had a hell of a career.

I got a win out here in front of my son, so thats's huge for me. I just don't have the balls for this stuff no more, man. " Rather than place his gloves on the canvas, as is tradition, Anders elected to hand them to his coach, Chris Conolley, of Spartan Fitness MMA.

Anders, 38, departs the promotion having won three of his most recent four bouts. Other notable victories in the promotion included Chris Weidman, Kyle Daukaus, and Gerald Meerschaert. He also holds a win over Brendan Allen under the LFA banner.
