Michigan Stuns Wisconsin with 60-52 Freakish Blowout!
After avenging the regular season loss to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament, Dusty May and players discussed the win in the postgame.
The only loss that Michigan basketball had in Big Ten play all season long was to Wisconsin on January 10, but that has now been avenged. But it took some drama to make it so. The Wolverines struggled mightily on offense in the first half, and then again for a time in the second, whereas Wisconsin used a barrage of 3s in both halves to get, extend, or come back to gain a lead.
In the second half, while it wasn't as dire as the first, Austin Rapp hit six straight 3s to help the Badgers erase a 15-point deficit and take a five-point lead. But the maize and blue persevered, and eventually regained the lead. However, UW came right back and tied the game in the waning moments, only for Yaxel Lendeborg to hit a game-winning 3 just before time expired.
With the win, the Wolverines will face Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament championship game. But before that game was set, Dusty May, Elliot Cadeau, and Yaxel Lendeborg met with the media. Here is everything they had to say.
Opening statement DUSTY MAY: What a fabulous basketball game, kind of a modern Big Ten game where teams were fighting, clawing, scrapping, competing at the highest level, but also making some high level shots and plays. Very, very proud of our guys. When you see them make the big shots that they made tonight, you just think back to how much work they put in in the gym after practice, before practice, in the mornings, whatever the case, on the weekends, and the game rewards that behavior.
