Tagovailoa Joins Dolphins' Victory Fleet: Exciting Return as Team Prepares to Say Goodbye
The Miami Dolphins cut Tua Tagovailoa after the start of the new league year, and he's already found a new home. Now, he's ready to move on.
At the start of the new league year, the Miami Dolphins made the tough decision to move on from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after six years. Tagovailoa had a rough 2025 campaign, completing 67. 7% of his passes for 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns and a career-high 15 interceptions, while leading the team to a 6-8 record before the team sat him on the bench in favor of Quinn Ewers at the end of the season.
After his release, Tagovailoa quickly found a new home, as he signed with the Atlanta Falcons, where he'll have a chance to compete with fellow first-round lefty Michael Penix. In his introductory press conference with the Falcons , Tagovailoa quickly addressed his final year with the Dolphins while explaining why Atlanta is the right place for him in 2026. “Based off of what happened last year, I knew I needed to play better, but I think this is a great opportunity to be able to come here and get a good reset,” Tagovailoa said.
Tagovailoa had some real highs with the Dolphins, including leading the team to two playoff berths, leading the NFL in completion percentage and yards and making the Pro Bowl. However, he also had some low points, and now he gets to start over with another offensive-focused head coach and a bunch of talented weapons.
