In an effort to help the sites prepare and get tickets sold, the NCAA will release the top 16 teams on Saturday afternoon.

The top 16 teams for the Women's NCAA Tournament will be revealed Saturday, March 14. In an effort to help the sites prepare and get tickets sold, the NCAA will release the top 16 teams ― who will host the opening two rounds of Women's March Madness ― on Saturday afternoon between the men's SEC semifinal games. The selection committee for the tournament will unveil the top 16 in alphabetical order.

Actual seeding order will be released on Sunday night during the Selection Sunday show at 8 p. m. ET on ESPN.

Thirty-one teams will get automatic bids by virtue of winning their conference tournaments. The top four teams are all but locked in with UConn, UCLA, Texas and South Carolina. The Huskies (34-0) are the lone undefeated team in the country and UCLA has only one loss.

Texas and South Carolina have beat up on each other in the competitive SEC conference. The schools fighting for the last hosting sites and what will eventually be No. 4 seeds include Minnesota, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina and West Virginia.
