You can call him an all-purpose back. On some days, he even looks like a throwback, the kind of player who does a little bit of everything and runs to daylight, not to the spotlight. But at the end of the 2025 season, the Steelers called him something else entirely: Most Valuable Player.
On a team with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, receiver DK Metcalf and running back Jaylen Warren, that’s saying something about a guy who played little more than 50% of the offensive snaps last season. “That meant a lot, you know? ” Gainwell said Thursday.
