The UCLA Bruins baseball started their series against the Michigan Wolverines with a 10-5 win thanks to two high-scoring innings at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday. The Bruins struggled offensively in six of their eight innings, but the Bruins bullpen was able to limit the Wolverines success at bat for nearly the entire game. UCLA used five pitchers from their bullpen with starting junior pitcher Logan Reddemann leading the group with six innings on the mound for six hits, two runs, seven strikeouts, with Reddemann owning an earned run average of 2.

97 for the season. Michigan got off to a hot start with a two-run homer off of Reddemann in the top of the first. The Bruins had a vicious response with five hits leading to four runs to put UCLA up 4-2 entering the top of the second.

Both teams got one runner on base, but were unable to do anything else for their teams in the second and the third was even quieter with only the Wolverines getting a runner on base. UCLA was once again able to find production at bat in the bottom of the fourth with six hits leading to an electric six runs to give the Bruins an eight-run lead halfway through the game. For the rest of the game, both teams would find success with their defensive teams limiting their opponents batters chances of getting on base.

The Wolverines would get a final chance in the top of the ninth to at least tie UCLA, but were only able to get three-runs, which put them five behind the Bruins. UCLA will play Michigan for their second game of the series at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday with an anticipated start time of 2 p. m.
