Yahoo Sports

Olivia Georges became the fifth New Jersey girls to win three state titles, and the first from North Jersey.

ATLANTIC CITY – Olivia Georges wrestled her way to new heights on March 14. The DePaul senior 165-pounder won her third state championship with a 17-6 major decision over Liliana Alicea (Central Regional) inside Boardwalk Hall. Georges becomes the first Bergen or Passaic girls wrestler to win three state titles, and the first on either side for DePaul.

The Bloomingdale native finishes as a four-time medalist after placing first as freshman and junior at 145. Georges took third as a sophomore at 145 despite never being fully healed from a fractured radius and torn UCL. This winter, Georges went 24-1 with pins or technical falls in the first three rounds of states to earn a title match with the 2024 state champ Alicea.

Only three other New Jersey girls wrestlers finished their career with three state gold medals: Princeton's Chloe Ayres (2019-2021), Manalapan's Jess Johnson (2019-2021) and Monroe-Old Bridge's Gabriella Miller (2019-2022). Bloomfield's Kira Pipkins (2020-2023) remains the only four-time winner. Check back soon for more.
