Ahead of the start of the NCAA Tournament next week, the team gave an encouraging update on its freshman star

During last week’s Big Ten Tournament loss to Washington , USC women’s basketball freshman star Jazzy Davidson suffered a shoulder injury. The injury raised questions about her status for the NCAA Tournament, which is set to begin next week. Well this week, we got good news on that front.

In a statement on social media , the team confirmed that Davidson will be good to go for March Madness. “Davidson suffered the injury five minutes into USC's Big Ten Tournament game against Washington on March 5, when she was hit in front of the Trojans' bench while running up the backcourt in transition,” Ehsan Kassim of USA Today wrote . “She quickly grabbed her shoulder and appeared to be in pain while being tended to by the USC training staff.

“While Davidson departed to the locker room — while holding her right arm — officials reviewed the play and found the contact was incidental. Just one minute of game time later, Davidson returned to the game. However, she shot just 2-of-13 and finished with eight points.

She was often seen shaking her right arm after shots. “With seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, Davidson departed for the bench and did not return. Coach Lindsay Gottlieb was optimistic following the game that Davidson would be able to return to the NCAA tournament.
