That salary would make Hall the fifth-highest paid running back in the NFL on a per annual average basis. Recent reports indicate the Jets will begin discussing a contract extension with Hall once the 2026 NFL draft concludes. That makes sense.
Using the franchise tag on Hall was simply a placeholder to extend the deadline to discuss an extension with him until July 15. It would benefit all parties involved to sign a multi-year contract. Hall would get additional financial security beyond 2026.
The Jets would better manage his cap charges via an extension as well. Jets fans should definitely expect Hall to sign a multi-year contract extension this offseason. How much it will cost general manager Darren Mougey is a different question and expectation altogether.
