Here is why the Indianapolis Colts are getting a slight salary cap boost for the 2026 season.
The Indianapolis Colts are getting a salary cap bump for the 2026 NFL season. However, it is among the smallest cap adjustments in football. The NFL announced the 2026 salary cap adjustments for each team, and the Colts are receiving a $600,000 cap space gain, according to Spotrac .
The team getting the biggest adjustment is the Tennessee Titans, who received $24. 3 million. The 49ers received $20.
7 million. There are four teams, Buffalo, Seattle, the New York Giants, and Carolina, who lost cap space following the adjustment. The Colts are receiving the sixth-lowest cap adjustment of any team.
So what do teams receive these adjustments for? Kyle Crabbs of AtoZ Sports explains. "These kinds of adjustments are usually courtesy of teams getting reimbursed for player salary via insurance policies after an injury or incentive money from the previous season that is (or isnโt) achieved as compared to what the salary cap records showed throughout the prior season," Crabbs wrote .
