Former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is set to be one of the keynote speakers at Washington's coaches clinic.

Over Jedd Fisch's first two seasons at the helm with the Washington Huskies , he has hosted several special visitors to headline the program's annual coaches clinic. During his first year, the Huskies had eight-time Super Bowl champion (and now North Carolina head coach) Bill Belichick, two-time national champion and Super Bowl champion Pete Carroll, and Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider as the keynote speakers. Then, in 2025, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, defensive coordinator Chris Shula, and two-time Super Bowl champion Mike Shanahan headline the event.

Now in 2026, the Huskies have announced former Auburn head coach and Florida State offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn as one of the event's keynote speakers, which will take place on April 3-4. View this post on Instagram Before earning his first head coaching position at Arkansas State in 2012, Malzahn won a national championship as the offensive coordinator of the Auburn Tigers in 2010 while guiding quarterback Cam Newton to the Heisman Trophy, for whom Fisch acted as the position coach in 2020 with the New England Patriots before he took the head coaching job with the Arizona Wildcats. After Malzahn was rehired by the Tigers in 2013 as the head coach, he spent eight seasons at the helm of the SEC program.

He was named the 2013 Coach of the Year by six different outlets and produced winning seasons in all eight years, going 68-35 before he was fired at the end of the 2020 season. He was then hired at Central Florida, where he went 28-24 over the next four years to bring his career record to 105-62 before he resigned following the 2024 season and took the offensive coordinator position. Malzahn spent one year in Tallahassee before announcing his retirement, but led the Seminoles to the third-best scoring offense in the ACC, averaging 33 points per game.
