Report says Bucs showed interest in Trey Hendrickson
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue searching for ways to strengthen their pass rush, and at one point, they explored a potential free-agent addition. According to a report shared on X by ESPNโs Jeremy Fowler, the Buccaneers showed interest in signing edge rusher Trey Hendrickson before he ultimately chose to remain in the AFC and sign with the Baltimore Ravens. Hendrickson has established himself as one of the leagueโs more productive pass rushers over the past five-ish seasons.
His ability to consistently pressure quarterbacks and create havoc in the offensive backfield made him one of the more appealing veteran edge options available during the offseason, which likely explains why Tampa Bay explored the possibility of bringing him in. For the Buccaneers, the interest highlights an ongoing focus on improving the edge position. Tampa Bay has several young players in the rotation, but adding an experienced pass rusher could help elevate the unit as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
While Hendrickson ultimately landed elsewhere, the report shows Tampa Bay is actively monitoring opportunities to improve its defensive front. The Buccaneersโ current outside linebacker group includes Yaya Diaby, Chris Braswell, rookie David Walker, Anthony Nelson, Markees Watts, and newly signed veteran Al-Quadin Muhammad. As the offseason continues, it would not be surprising to see Tampa Bay remain active in its search for additional help rushing the passer via free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft in April.
