Yahoo Sports

The Miami Dolphins had several defensive backs hitting the market this offseason, and they've now had two join new teams.

The Miami Dolphins entered the offseason with several defensive backs set to hit the market, and after Kader Kohou accepted a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs , a second member of the secondary departed on Friday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Dolphins safety Elijah Campbell is signing a one-year deal with the New York Giants. Campbell, 30, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2018 after a collegiate career split between Iowa Western Community College, Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa.

After spending 2019 and 2020 in the AAF and UFL, Campbell returned for the 2020 NFL season with the New York Jets and has played for the Dolphins since 2021. In 65 games over his five years in Miami, he's been a consistent special teams contributor, racking up 45 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Without Campbell, Miami's safety room now includes Lonnie Johnson, Dante Trade, Zayne Anderson, Jordan Colbert and Omar Brown.
