The starting pitcher rejoined the Red Sox on Friday following a sharp WBC outing for the Dominican Republic. Bello allowed one hit and one run with seven strikeouts and no walks in a pool-play victory over Israel. Although the Dominican Republic advanced to the knockout stage, Bello is back with Boston as the country prepares for Friday's quarterfinal matchup against Korea.
The 26-year-old discussed his WBC detour. "The experience was amazing," Bello said through a translator. "I feel like, not even in the playoffs -- the short experience I had in the playoffs -- was something even similar to that.
